BlackLine Systems has been named a Gold Winner in the Best in Biz Awards 2014 International, the only independent business awards program judged by members of the press and industry analyst communities.

Last year, BlackLine partnered with Silver Lake Sumeru, the mid-market arm of leading technology-focused global private equity firm Silver Lake, to do a recapitalization of the company and drive its next phase of growth.  BlackLine CEO and Founder Therese Tucker was honored by Best in Biz in the ‘Executive of the Year - Medium (100-999 employees) Category’  for her accomplishments building the financial software company from the ground up into the leading provider of enterprise-class Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based financial close applications, resulting in the 2013 strategic partnership with Silver Lake Sumeru.

“The quality of entries in Best in Biz Awards 2014 International was very high in sectors that are critical to the future of the economy,” said Damon Kitney, business editor at The Australian. “In the end, my choice came down to which business will have the most transformative impact, and it was hard to split them because they all are doing this in different ways.”

More than 200 public and private companies representing all sectors of the economy from more than 30 countries competed in Best in Biz Awards’ second annual International program.  Winners of Best in Biz Awards 2014 International were determined based on scoring from a panel of 27 judges drawn from top-tier news, business, finance and technology publications and media outlets from 17 countries, with all continents represented.

“Under the category ‘Executive of the Year’, it was inspiring reading about the good work done by several CEOs and top executives,” said Manjula Ramakrishnan, IAA Magazine (United Arab Emirates). “Their work was all the more laudable, for it was not just about the upward spiral of the company, or making the bottom line look good; it also included Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and involving the organization in meaningful community activities. In addition, it was amply evident that employee empowerment was of paramount importance, which again brought into honed focus the commendable business philosophy adopted by these leaders.”

Accounting/finance managers and compliance executives around the world use the BlackLine Financial Close Suite to automate traditionally manual, labor-intensive and spreadsheet-driven account reconciliation and financial close processes.   BlackLine continues to add clients at an aggressive pace with a long list of mid-size and global companies already on board including Aflac, AT&T, Boeing, British Gas, eBay, Eurostar International, Lafarge, Northrop Grumman, Qantas Airways and T-Mobile.

Ms. Tucker’s passion, persistence and effort have paid off with BlackLine ranking No. 15 on the 2012 list of the ‘50 Fastest’ Women-Owned/Led Companies in North America, as reported in The Wall St. Journal.  In addition, BlackLine recently made the Software 500 list of the “largest and best performing software and service providers in the world” for the third year in a row and also has made the prestigious Inc. 500/5000 for the past six years, joining the ranks of such companies as Jamba Juice, Microsoft and Patagonia.
